Tubby, the Recycling Dog: World’s Greenest Canine

One of our responsibilities as a good human being is to protect the environment. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a four-paw assistant with floppy ears that wags their tails every time they pick up a plastic bottle?

‘Tubby,’ a labrador retriever from Torfaen, United Kingdom, was included in the Guinness Book of Records in 2010 as the dog who recycled the most plastic bottles. While going out for his daily walk, twice a day, he’s been collecting six bottles every day for six years! That means he recycled 26,000 bottles!

Tubby became the world’s greenest dog. He also has the smallest amount of carbon footprint because all of the plastic bottles he collected each day are enough to compensate for the greenhouse gasses he produced (by eating meat and consuming products that are not environmentally friendly).

Even after breaking world records, he continued to gather bottles. Rather than playing with his other toys, he preferred to pick up these bottles. Tubby’s hooman mother, Sandra Gilmore, estimates that he recycled 50,000 bottles during his lifetime on Earth.

Unfortunately, Tubby is no longer on our planet. He was 13 years of age when he returned to his dog planet in 2016. To this day, Tubby still holds the title of a dog who has recycled the most plastic bottles. No one can beat him yet!

The story of Tubby will always be an inspiration for all those who try to make the world a better place, as well as to his fellow paw buddies and other living species on our planet. 🌏🐶
